Kinematics/Simulation Lead

As Kinematics and Simulation Lead, I am responsible for using advanced simulation tools, including the Lap Time Simulator (LTS), to model and analyze our car’s performance. My work plays a critical role in guiding the design and optimization of the vehicle to ensure that our decisions are data-driven and aligned with our performance goals.

The primary focus of my role is replicating the car’s dynamics within the simulator to predict and enhance its performance. I run detailed studies to determine key vehicle parameters such as wheelbase, track width, ride height, aerodynamic maps, power curves, and suspension geometry. By analyzing these parameters, I help establish performance baselines and identify areas for improvement. A major output of my work is the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that guide the design goals for each subsystem. For example, I collaborate with the aerodynamics team to optimize downforce and drag coefficients and work with the suspension team to refine kinematics for improved handling. These KPIs ensure that all systems are aligned and contribute to achieving peak performance.

I also play a pivotal role in creating testing plans and methodologies. I meet regularly with other subsystem leads to design track tests that validate simulation results and refine the vehicle’s setup. This process is to meet the car’s theoretical performance and translate effectively to real world conditions. Beyond vehicle performance, my role involves analyzing competitive data and benchmarking our car against competitors.
